Ken Kaneki is an introverted college student who puts his mind to books rather than spending time watching the news that depicts this horrific new crisis.

When a beautiful woman named Rize Kamishiro asks him out on a date, he gets too excited. Towards the end of the date, Kaneki discovers that Rize has no pure intentions towards him. She is a ghoul herself and attacks him. The next day, Ken wakes up in a hospital.
He is told that Rize has died, and her organs are transplanted into his body. Kaneki begins a new life as a hybrid between a ghoul and a human. His life from there on becomes dreadful as he struggles to cling to humanity in a time when ghouls become the new monsters.
3. Kimetsu No Yaiba (2019)
Kimetsu no Yaiba is the profound but dangerous journey of Kamado Tanjirou along with his demon-turned-sister Kamado Nezuko as they try to find a cure for the latter’s recovery into becoming a human again and fight vicious demons. Tanjirou had been returning from the village when he realized that his family had been killed by a demon, and the only surviving one was Nezuko, who also turned into a demon.

Tanjirou trains under Sakonji Urokodaki, the former Water Hashira. He undergoes severe training in the mountains to be able to fight demons and reach Muzan Kibutsuji, the king of all demons and the one who made Nezuko a demon. They died fighting the fox and saving the village, so Naruto never knew them, and he never did until much later. Naruto is the brave story of this young boy as he paves his way to become the strongest Shinobi, one battle at a time.
5. Naruto: Shippuden (2007)
Naruto: Shippuden puts light on the life of Naruto as he comes into his teenage years and becomes an adult. The Shinobi world faces the threat of Akatsuki, an organization of estranged ninjas and warriors that seek to change the world forever.

Naruto not only learns the Sage Mode but also learns of his past, which helps him gain control over the Kyuubi, the nine-tailed fox. 6. Assassination Classroom (2015)
The world watches in horror as a supernatural and alien entity destroys the moon. This entity threatens to destroy the world by the end of March this year. To destroy this threat, the students of the Class 3-E of the prestigious Kunugigaoka Middle School, who are considered outcasts by their peers, are tasked with killing this entity.

This threat, now termed, Koro-sensei , will be teaching these students diligently until the end of March. That is how long they have to kill him and gain a reputation in this school. Koro-sensei does everything for these children. He teaches them in a way they deserve to be taught in and helps them excel in each subject. 7. Angel Beats! (2010)
Yuzuru Otonashi would often wonder what it is like to die and what happens to you once you do. His questions are soon answered when he passes away one day and wakes up in the afterlife. He does not remember anything and can only wonder what this place is.

Afterlife is actually a high school setting where people who died unwanted and tragic deaths come after their demise. The students here are rebelling against the unjustness of God by making the Afterlife Battlefront.
They mean to oppose Kanade “Angel” Tachibana, who is the president of their students’ council and is no less powerful than a God herself. Otonashi is taken under the ambit of this group by its leader Nakamura, which is one of his many opportunities to learn what lies in his fate.
8. Tokyo Revengers (2021)
Personally, I feel Tokyo Revengers is the anime that most resembles Lookism. Hanagaki Takemichi lives a boring and monotonous life as an underpaid comic bookstore employee. One of these days, he was watching the news when the headline read of the death of his ex-girlfriend Tachibana Hinata, who died due to a gang violence incident during a festival.

Baffled and traumatized, Takemichi is yet to come to terms with the death of the woman he loved so much throughout middle school but had to part with for reasons he does not remember. He is at the subway station waiting for the train when he falls onto the tracks. The train is about to hit him when he suddenly travels into the past.
He is his middle school self again, with his dyed hair and delinquent get-up. He soon realizes that Hinata’s younger brother, Naoto, is the trigger to his time travel, and when he saves him at the subway, it helps him travel to the past. The two now devise a plan to send Takemichi to the past and save Hinata’s life by changing the course of time.
9. Chainsaw Man (2022)
Denji has lived his life in poverty, barely having anything to eat and having to sleep in the dumpster most of the time. His only friend is Pochita, a devil dog with a chainsaw on his forehead who helps him kill devils for money. One day, Denji faces a life-altering incident that takes his life.

Pochita immerses his own powers and life force into Denji to give him a new life, but Denji will now be a devil hybrid himself. This is how the “Chainsaw Devil” is born. Denji kills all of his adversaries mercilessly and saves himself, taking revenge both for himself and Pochita’s death.
He is discovered by Makima , an attractive woman who leads forces to eradicate devils. She takes him under her wing and introduces him to a life better than before. But this new life is not as easy as it formerly seems to be.
10. Fate/Zero (2011)
Fate/ Zero is set in a world where the Holy Grail is the omnipotent tool to achieve everything. It can grant any wish and has been the cause of three great wars previously. These wars had caused great destruction, with no party emerging victorious, ever.

The Einzbern family is wealthy and believes that the Fourth Holy Grail War can have a different result now that they have the vessel of the Holy Grail. They get their daughter Irisviel married to a Kiritsugu Emiya, who is known as the “Magus Killer” and is also much hated.
Kiritsugu must fight off six opponents with powers and weapons of their own. He is in a place of surviving or dying, with no other option at his disposal. His weapon is the Saber, and his greatest enemy will be Kirei Kotomine, a priest seeking salvation.
11. Dororo (2019)
Daigo Kagemitsu is facing trouble. His land has grown infertile, and it is dying. He is going to do anything to gain it back. When he prays continuously, his prayers are answered when 12 demons promise prosperity over his prefecture’s land.

But they always demand a price. His firstborn child was born with no skin, nose, eyes, ears, or even limbs! Miraculously, the child is still alive. Kagemitsu abandoned this child in the end. Fortunately, the child was soon discovered by a medicine man. He helps the child by giving him prosthetic limbs.
He teaches him combative skills so he can fight for himself. The boy continues to grow with one ambition- to kill the demons that took his senses. He defeats them one by one, gaining back his senses, limbs, and skin with each demon that he kills. He spends several years in solitude until he comes across Dororo, a little orphan boy. As the two get along, they try to find a way to survive in this world that is full of demons.
12. Devilman Crybaby (2018)
Devils need a human host to function. If the human’s will is strong enough, they can overcome demonic tendencies, making them Devilman. Akira Fudou has always been weak. He is soon asked by his friend Ryou Asuka to come with him on an adventure to uncover demons. They attend the Sabbath, where degenerates party.

While bloodshed and death happen, demons possess those who party here. Those possess turn into grotesque and cause havoc. In an attempt to save his friend, Akira embodies the Amon devil. He then becomes a Devilman.
13. Owari no Seraph (2015)
The world has been infected by a mysterious virus that happens to be lethal for people above the age of 13. In this case, Vampires take over the world by promising a better world order in which survivors will be protected in exchange for donations of their blood.

Two survivors, Yuuichiro and Mikaela Hyakuya, have been taken from their orphanage along with several other children. Mikaela wants to lay a proper plan so all of them can run away from the cruel hold of the tyrant vampires.
Their escape plan fails when Yuuichiro is the only one who is able to get out and is found by the Moon Demon Company, which means to eradicate demons. Yuuichiro is now determined to take revenge against the vampires.
14. Kyoukai no Kanata (2013)
The clan of Spirit World Warriors has the power to use their blood as a weapon. Mirai Kuriyama is the last surviving member of the clan. Mirai is faced with the challenge of eradicating “youmu,” which are the manifestations of the negative emotions of humans.

One of these days, when she is sitting on the school roof, she meets Akihito Kanbara. He is a hybrid of youmu and a human. She tries to attack him, but he turns out to be an immortal being. They strike up an unlikely partnership, where Mirai constantly tries to kill him to gain some self-esteem as the sole survivor of her clan.
They join the literary club, where there are two more Spirit World Warriors. The group then formed fights off youmu that they come across, to eventually face the strongest youmu- Beyond the Boundary.
15. Elfen Lied (2004)
Elfen Lied is one of the most psychologically triggering and dark animes from the last two decades. Anyone who has watched it knows how impactful it is. The show is about Lucy, who may appear human but is actually a “Diclonious.”

Diclonii possesses invisible hands on their back. Lucy was put under a government experiment at a young age. When she gets the opportunity to escape, she kills everyone in the facility brutally. While escaping, she suffers a head injury which gives her amnesia and split personality disorder.
Sometimes she is her dark, murderous self, while other times, she is like an innocent child. While she is unstable, she meets a pair of cousins known as Kouta and Yuka. They take her into their home without knowing what she is. This changes their lives forever.
16. Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (2020)
Every school in Japan has the “seven wonders,” which are prominent urban legends. A well-heard legend is the one of Hanako kun, which is the ghost of a young girl that lives in the bathrooms of schools.

At the Kamome Academy, they have another version of this legend. It is said that whoever is able to summon Hanako kun will be granted any wish from her. People have continuously tried to summon her but have not succeeded.
When Nene Yashiro tries to summon Hanako kun so that she can ask for some romantic fortune, when she finally succeeds in the summoning, it turns out that Hanako is actually a boy. With no fortune in her love life, she ends up becoming Hanako’s assistant and gets caught up in supernatural stuff.
17. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (2016)
The world is set during the Industrial Revolution when a dangerous virus is turning people into horrifying creatures. They mercilessly prey on humans and eat their flesh. These creatures are known as “Kabane,” and the only way to eradicate them is by destroying their hearts, which are coated by steel.

If someone survives a Kabane attack, they will become one of them instead of dying. Fortified civilizations, like the island of Hinomoto, have built large walls to fend off attacks from the Kabane. Large and armored trains are the only way into these civilizations and are built by young men. Ikoma is one of these men and has also built a weapon against the Kabane that he is eager to use.
18. Summer Time Render (2022)
The Kofune family, along with their two daughters- Mio and Ushio, had taken Shinpei Ajiro in when his parents passed away. Even when he went to Tokyo for further studies, he had to come back after Ushio died of drowning when she was trying to save a little girl.

At the funeral, Shinpei is told that Ushio has bruises around her neck, which may indicate a murder. Shinpei tries to investigate further into the matter, but strange things begin to happen around him.
As people disappear and inexplicable things happen, Mio wonders if the folktale telling of beings called “Shadows” is actually true. To see one’s shadow is a sign of one’s demise. Shinpei must now work against everything to uphold Ushio’s last wish, which is to protect Mio.
19. Kemono Jihen (2021)
A hostess at a local inn in the Japanese Countryside employs Kohachi Inugami, a detective specializing in the occult. The incidents revolved around the mysterious appearance of mutilated human and livestock corpses.

While looking for clues, Inugami comes across a young boy who seems rather strange and works in the fields. His is termed “Dorotabou” for the way he smells. When he tries to talk to the boy, the latter seems surprised at the fact that anyone would want to talk to him. He asks the boy to accompany him in his investigation. This gives the boy a new purpose, along with introducing him to a strange new world of beasts and similar entities.
20. Sousei no Onmyouji (2016)
Exorcists deal with monsters called Kegare in a parallel reality called the “Magano.” One of the prodigious exorcists is Benio Adashino, who has great strength. The Exorcist Union of Tokyo calls upon her for her skills.

On her way to the union, she runs into Rokuro Enmadou, a young exorcist but a person with a troubled past. When the two soon witness some children being kidnapped by a Kegare, Benio rushes to take action, and Rokuro gets dragged into Magano with her. Turns out that Rakaro is highly talented, perhaps even more than Benio.
He saves her during the fight when she fails to combat properly. This is the story of two highly talented exorcists as they work together to eliminate threats. They are prophesied to be the parents of Miko, the child who will be the reincarnation of Abe No Seimei, who will get rid of this world’s impurities.
21. Bakemono no Ko (2015)
Two different souls lead very different lives in their own worlds. Ren is a nine-year-old kid who lost the last person that ever treated him kindly. The remaining family shuns him. He has no parents, or real family left now.

The little boy wanders into the streets of Shibuya. While going across the alleys, he comes across Kumtetsu. He takes him to the beast realm, called Shibuten. Kumatetsu sees the kid as a chance to become the next leader of the realm.
However, since he possesses no skills or abilities, his succession is doubtful to the current lord of the realm. The two try to work together to find what they seek. Kumatetsu wishes for recognition, while Ren (now called Kyuuta) wants a home.
22. Shakugan no Shana (2005)
Crimson Denizens are mysterious creatures from a parallel universe who feed on the life energy of humans. As a result, the earth is a slaughtering ground for these beings. When they kill someone, what is left is a soul residue called “Torches,” which will eventually disappear, and the memories of that person will all be gone from the minds of their loved ones.

Countering these monsters are Flame Hazes, who are brave warriors. One day, high schooler Yuuji Sakai is attacked by a Denizen. He is almost saved by a girl who happens to be a warrior. But turns out that Yuuji has become a Torch and might become yet another extinguished memory very soon.
23. Vanitas no Carte (2021)
Vanitas was a scorned vampire during his time. He was born under a blue moon, which caused him to be abhorred by those of his own kind. Legends say that he made a cursed grimoire which was known as the “Book of Vanitas.
Now it is the 19 th century, and the vampire Noe Archiviste is looking for this cursed book. He is traveling in an airship and is saved from an attack by a feral vampire, someone strange. He happens to be a doctor and introduces himself as “Vanitas.”
He carries the Book of Vanitas. But here is the thing, Vanitas is actually a mere human rather than a vampire of the blue moon. His master Vanitas is the one who descended upon him this name and the book. Vanitas goes around helping feral and mad vampires gain their sanity once again and break free from a shackled consciousness.
24. Devil’s Line (2018)
In the world of Devil’s Line, vampires walk around the humans, living as a normal element of society. They do not necessarily need blood to live, yet they can become bloodthirsty if extreme emotions get triggered.

Shamans are people who can talk to ghosts and spirits, even helping them cross the path to the afterlife. They are usually invisible to the human eye. The Shaman Fight is a commendable championship where Shamans from around the world come together every five hundred years to be crowned as the Shaman King.

A Shaman King can set the world order however they see fit and can summon upon the Great Spirit as they wish. One night, Manta Oyamada is getting late to class. He decides to take the road by the cemetery when he sees Asakura Yoh , a lonesome boy sitting there.
He invites Manta to come to see the stars with him along with “them.” When Manta learns that “them” refers to ghosts, he runs away. Yoh later meets him and tells him that he is a Shaman currently under training. His powers are shown when he saves Manta with a warrior spirit called Amidamaru.
27. Steins Gate
Rintarou Okabe is a scientist who can never get tired of scientific exploration. He sets up the Future Gadget Laboratory with his friend Mayuri Shiina and his roommate Itaru Hashida. He wants to create groundbreaking technology that has been unimaginable by people till now.

Even when they all have great ambitions, their only unique creation is a microwave that has the power to turn a banana into green goo. One day, Rintarou attends a conference headed by the neuroscientist Kurisu Makise based on time travel.
The conference changes his perception and puts him face to face with strange incidents. He soon realizes that the “Phone Microwave” is more than what it seems to be. The microwave can send messages into the past.
This new time travel gadget puts him at the attention of a strange organization called SERN. This puts him and his friends at great risk. Rintarou now must fight danger and must keep his loved ones out of it as well.
28. Orange
Naho Takamiya enters her sophomore year on an uneasy note. Upon waking up, she gets a peculiar letter that has been addressed to her. This letter happens to be from her future self, 10 years from now! She finds the prospect of a future self weird at first, but when the events described in the letter play out exactly as mentioned, she begins to believe that it actually is her 26-year-old self.

The letters describe her future life as a regretful one. The future Naho wishes that things had played out differently when she was younger. She wishes for the younger Naho to correct her actions so that the future could be better.
The letter further tells Naho to look out for the transfer student Kakeru Naruse. Now Naho must be especially careful in making any decision. The letter is her sole guide into this new life, so she does not grow up to regret anything.
29. Rozen Maiden (2004)
The school has thoroughly traumatized Jun Sakurada. As a result of this, he spends his days shut in his room. He buys things online and then returns them before the trial time period ends. One day, a note appears on his desk. It asks him if he would wind something. Assuming it is something from one of his endless online purchases, he ticks “yes.” Doing so changes his life forever.

Soon enough, a box arrives with a wind-up doll inside of it. But there is something strange about this doll. When Jun puts her together, she goes around walking and talking as if she was a human. She tells him her name is Shinku, which is the fifth doll in the collection of Rozen Maiden; they are a group of special dolls made by a well-known dollmaker called Rozen.
Shinku says that she needs to fight off her other counterparts in a tournament known as the “Alice Game,” and she needs human help during all that. With more dolls coming into his house, Jun’s life has never been more complicated!
30. Nabari no Ou (2008)
Rokujou Miharu is silent but mischievous. The 14-year-old possesses the Hijutsu, “Shinrabanshou.” It is a technique that several ninja clans wish to achieve so that they can gain control over Nabari. Miharu’s classmate Kouichi and his English teacher Kumohira are actually secretly members of the Banten Ninja clan.

They wish to protect him from the attackers that wish to get their hands on him. They wish to form a “ninja club,” but Miharu constantly keeps denying their invitation to do so. When he becomes subjected to several attacks and happens to miraculously make out safely from them, he accepts their invitation to survive.
31. Trinity Blood (2015)
The world is only still recovering from Armageddon, which was an apocalyptic war in which vampires began to haunt the people. The two races are at constant odds with each other, which has divided the world into two. The vampires are part of the Methuselah, making up the New Human Empire.

The humans, on the other hand, make up the Terrans in the Vatican Papal State. As if the division was not enough, extremist groups like Rosenkreuz Order want to strike up great wars again. The Vatican has used the AX Unit, which is headed by Cardinal Caterina Sforza, to deal with terrorist organizations.
The organization checks for peace and order while hoping that Vampires and Humans will one day achieve peace within themselves. Abel Nightroad is part of AX along with his partner, Sister Esther Blanchett. Both of them are brave and able warriors. The two grow closer with time and also come to terms with the harsh realities of this divided world.
32. Hakuoki (2010)
Hakuoki is set in Japan in the year 1864. Chizuru Yukimura is a young girl looking for her father, Koudou, who is a doctor. He is often out and far away from home but has now gone missing. When she does not hear from him for months, she dresses up as a man to go out and look for him in Kyoto.

She is soon discovered by a ronin. While she runs and hides, she witnesses the ronin being brutally killed by white-haired men who appear to have gone feral. Soon enough, these men are tackled by the Shinsengumi, a group of men who find her and take her to the headquarters since they are unsure about what they should do to her.
When she tells them that she has been looking for her father, they put her under their protection since they are also looking for him. A search for her father leads Chizuru deeper into conflict and tension.
33. Speed Grapher (2005)
The world is ten years after the Bubble War. The gap between the rich and the poor has increased drastically, even in Japan. The rich are immersed in their materialistic desires. Saiga once worked as a war photographer but now works under Hibara Ginza.

Tokyo has taken the shape of a capitalistic state. Saiga infiltrates the Roppongi Club, which is located in the red-light district and serves as a secretive base. Amidst trying to gather some information, he gets caught.
He is brought before Kagura, who is a girl in the middle of a ritual. Meeting her gives him the extraordinary ability to make things explode if he photographs them. This is the beginning of his solo journey into uncovering the mystery of Kagura and the Roppongi Club.
34. Baraou no Souretsu (2022)
Richard Plantagenet looks up to his father, the Duke of York. He has been given years of practice and training so he can hone his combat skills and grow strong enough to fight beside his father.

She is soon blamed for several cases of theft and homicide. While Shoutaro investigates further into this case, he comes across a group of people with access to Gaia memories, which are memory units that embody a great amount of data.
These units can form large beasts known as “Dopants.” Thus, users of the Gaia Memories are a great threat to society, and detectives must now work to put an end to them. Shoutaro and Philip are accompanied by good Gaia users to curb this problem.
36. Black Jack (1993)
Kuro Hazama is known as “Black Jack.” He has been termed a legend in the medical world for his prowess. He is the best at what he does, even when he holds no license. He, along with his assistant Pinoko, had saved a great number of lives due to his skills, all when other doctors had given up hope.

But his services are not for free, and what he asks as the price makes him seem greedy and cruel. For using his impressive skills in treating the worst diseases, he even risks his life. Surely, the price of it all must be something unimaginable.
37. Madlax (2004)
Madlax is set in a fictional country called Gazth-Sonika. Here, civil war has ravaged the state for years. Amongst all this is a mercenary called Madlax, who possesses supernatural skills. In another country called Nafrece, which seems rather peaceful, there lives Margaret Burton, who is leading a quiet life.

While these two people are strangers, they are tied to each other in more ways than imaginable. They embark on a journey to discover the truth of their fate, with no guarantee of it being something they can handle.
38. Devilman Lady (1998)
