The Night Comes for Us
The Night Comes for Us came out in 2018, and it is one of the most action pack, fast-paced movies you will ever watch. More nonstop killing, stabbing, cruel and psychotic violence, and nonstop gore are featured in this movie than in any other contemporary horror movie . Resuming the action, the battle arrangements or scenes have superior direction and lookout.

The Night Comes for Us (Credits: Netflix)
For lovers of the genre, it is a never-ending spectacle of action. So many bloody action sequences are included. Although the narrative is decent, the action is its greatest strength, so you may enjoy it only for that. You’ll lose track of how many times you gasped while watching all of that since there are so many different methods to employ firearms!
Nearly every actor gives a strong performance, and the photography is excellent, which compliments the whole motion. Some even compare this flick to the Raid movies because of the cast members, so you can now relate to where it stands. If you love action, blood, and absolute carnage, then watch this movie.

Photocopier
Wregas Bhanuteja, a first-time director, creates a potent tech-thriller, Photocopier, that excels in every way. A girl has a blackout due to alcohol consumption. The next day, her life is turned upside down; and she loses all of her grants and everyone’s respect because of social and religious immorality in the movie, which some people would refer to as pedophilia.

Photocopier (Credits: Netflix)
Yet the woman isn’t a backer; she takes on the challenge and initiates analyzing using legal and illicit methods to learn why and how. The film meticulously weaves together an extended exhibition of materials. The conclusion is really moving and uplifting, and it has auxiliary essence when you understand how it links to the movie’s title.
The presentation and usage of social media as the prior origin for the action in the film are also great; unlike Hollywood productions, which often flood viewers with fleeting visual cues, this one was able to tell the complete tale on a far less budget, which is something Hollywood movies can see and learn.

Kartini: Princess of Java (Credits: Netflix)
You will be moved by the courage of these gentlewomen, and Kartini and even her father have my utmost respect for their willingness to embrace change. If you have read the book and know anything about Kartini, then you may feel that the movie lacks heavily from the source, but if you are watching the movie for the first time, then there is no mistrust that you will adore the film.
The ending of the movie was beautiful, and the way in which each scene is displayed is so easy to seize and understand. Definitely check it out to get familiarized with Indonesian culture.

Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow Troops)
It’s the story of our life. Ten little, impoverished children are conveying novel accounts while attending a dilapidated Muslim school. There are 10 kids, 2 teachers, and a lead at the school. The narrative approaches poverty from a different perspective; rather than blaming it, it reveals the “secret” that the finest things in life cannot be bought with money.

Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow Troops) (Credits: IMDb)
We find ourselves wondering, “Why can’t we be more content with our life and start to offer more to those who need it?” we experience pure feelings of joy when we see the faces of the not-so-privileged kids. The beauty of life, isn’t it—friendship, puppy love, readiness to give, faith? Cut Mini Theo does genuine and earnest acting.
The finest part of the movie, though, is seeing the naïve kids laugh and play in the woods. It’s just pure enjoyment, and you can tell that the chemistry between the new artists is authentic and not staged. Riri Riza did a good job directing all the elements in the movie.
- Released in: 2008
- IMDB Score: 7.9
- Cast: Cut Mini, Ikranagara, Tora Sudiro, Slamet Rahardjo and Others
- Directed By: Riri Riza

Pengabdi Setan (Satan’s Slaves)
The family of Rini is poor, and she lives with her father, ailing mother, disabled grandmother, brothers Tony, Bondi, and six-year-old Ian, who is silent, in an old cottage in the country close to a graveyard. Her mother, a successful singer, is deteriorating from an unknown illness, and her father lacks the resources to provide for the family.

Pengabdi Setan (Satan’s Slaves) (Credits: CNN Indonesia)
Strange occurrences occur in the house while her father travels to the city to sell the house after her mother dies. The use of bleak visuals and demonic cutaways was incredible. Undoubtedly a terrifying, spine-tingling, and dreadful movie.
The indoor lighting and wraith inside the abode, as well as some of the exteriors of the sunlight and nighttime cemeteries, made for some startling sets. The cemetery’s umbrella-wielding devils were truly frightening. A satisfactory watch.

5 CM
A trip to Mahameru Peak by five of their nearest pals is filled with themes of love, humor, and nationalism. The plot, which doesn’t concentrate exclusively on one character, does a good job of developing the characters after a strong opening in the beginning.

5 CM (Credits: Penedug Gunung Indonesia)
The acting is naturally firm, and the performers can virtually transmit the events, so the viewers also feel identical. The timing of the theme music and presentation in the film is on point. The cinematography, in particular, highlights the shocking wild scenery in each shot.
Also, it encourages climbers to visit a certain climbing location. By the conclusion, the audience learns more about each character and is left with a strong moral foundation. Totally recommended for people who have friends and prefer to go on trips like these. You all will enjoy the movie.
- Released in: 2012
- IMDB Score: 7.2
- Cast: Herjunot Ali, Fedi Nuril, Pevita Pearce, Saykoji, and Others

The Raid: Redemption
The focus of this film is just nonstop action! If you enjoy martial arts and action films , you must watch this as often as you can. The appropriate camera angles were used to keep you interested in the story. The cheap budget of this movie is the first thing that stands out.

The Raid: Redemption (Credits: Polygon)
Although the movie is purportedly set in a tower block, most of the action only occurs in a few of the building’s rooms and hallways. The plot is really thin and hardly worth noting on the back of a beer mat. Character motives are weak, and even the hero’s backstory and stimulus are little explored. The combat scenes are wordy, compelling, and utterly captivating.
In order to give his viewers the ability to feel every kick and punch, Evans uses hyperkinetic camera work to maneuver in and around his opponents with the perfect amount of speed and finesse. The actors are quite talented, and let’s be real, you are in for the pure action that the movie offers. It is a timeless movie and is among very few movies on the list that can be watched more than once.
- Released in: 2012
- IMDB Score: 7.6
- Cast: Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim, Donny Alamsyah, Yayan Ruhian and Others

Ernest Prakasa is the director of the movie, and it is his second direction, but it is made so maturely that you will not feel like it is made by a newbie.

Cek Toko Sebelah (Check the Store Next Door) (Credits: Klik)
Some of the scenes are heartbreaking, such as the one when Koh Afuk gets ill as an effect of a disagreement between his two sons over the Jaya Baru shops. Moreover, some of the moments are humorous, and each character in the film stands out due to their peculiar and humorous personality.
Real family concerns are presented in the film gracefully, amusingly, and in a way that is simple to take in. Even the comedic elements in the movie are funny and likable, and the performances by all the artists are a plus effect. It is one of the best-mentioned movies on the list, so definitely check it out with your family.

Garuda di Dadaku (Garuda in My Heart)
Garuda di Dadaku came out in 2009, and it has 2 movies in the franchise. The movie is focused on people who love sports. It follows a boy’s aspiration to be a professional athlete, yet this topic is not repeatedly endured in Indonesian films.

Garuda di Dadaku (Garuda in My Heart) (Credits: Tentang)
Given that it features football, Indonesia’s most popular sport, this makes it notably irregular in the history of Indonesian film. Well written and lightly presented, but the directors are able to fully realize the film’s promise. Well, the plot seems a little bit unbelievable, but come on, it’s a kid’s movie; everything in them is unbelievable.
The ability of the filmmakers to accurately capture the world of youths is another commendation. A motorist who seems in the film executes as the comedian to increase the film’s humor. The young kids all displayed lovely and real theater, and you already know what to expect from movies based on a sport that is fun and encouraging.

My Stupid Boss
A fantastic film to watch. This film exemplifies the grades of a thriving comedy: relatable forthright satire, witty lines, and flawless comedic timing. The vibrant color cinematography is well-planned. Natural actors are used. The background music is perfectly crafted and fits the scenes in the flick.

My Stupid Boss (Credits: Netflix)
You will see a good job done by the composer. Bunga Citra Lestari and Reza Rahadian aced as performers in this film. They were quite outspoken and expressive in their use of emotion. The delivery line is definitely improbable.
All in all a respectable watch. Just do not have your hopes high before going into the movie. The humorous lines, the scenes, and the timing of those comical dialogues were all in place, which made the whole experience funny and enjoyable.

Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? (What’s Up with Cinta?)
Ada Apa dengan Cinta? It was released in 2002, and it got a second part. The narrative has some positive takeaways, primarily with friendship, attitude, and literary creativity. The performers did a great job of displaying the individuality of each character.

Ada Apa Dengan Cinta (What’s Up with Cinta) (Credits: Netflix)
The character of Rangga, played by Nicholas Saputra, is undeniably endearing. Anybody may relate to the narrative since it is adequately broad. The memorable storyline, the effective use of shots, and the young performers’ ability to communicate on-screen make this movie so compelling. The soundtrack included in this film was ideal for teenagers.
I gaily advise you all to see this film, especially if you’re under stress. It has all the elements that are there in any teen movie, love, music, and comedy. After all, its main purpose is to make us laugh and have fun. All in all, it is a good package, and you will for sure enjoy this movie.

Love for Sale
Love for Sale is a bit of a challenge in terms of showing a happy close, as it turns out that the sweet Arini is a liar who made up stories about his family and all the ideas in the application for love. Inc is false, that he vanishes into thin air, and that it’s possible that he doesn’t frankly love Richard after the contract expires.

Love for Sale (Credits: Netflix)
This forces us to wonder if Arini is really in love with Richard. It is one of those ideal flicks which is perfect for all singles. The main thing in the movie is character development. All the characters had an expressing aura. You will notice subtle shifts in the characters of each personality as the movie progresses. It is a good movie, grab some popcorn and go for it.

Posesif (Possessive)
It’s fairly irregular for a film to feature a narrative about an abusive lover. Yudhis, who recently transferred from another school, meets Lala, an athlete. They fell in love right away. When their camaraderie evolves, Yudhis true self emerges. He abuses Lala and tries to run her life.

Posesif (Possessive) (Credits: Netflix)
You may find the actress just delivering her dialogue and not living the scene because of her blatant acting and timid presence. One thing to note is that the film had beautiful scenic videography, which will leave you in complete awe. All in all, it is mediocre to the decent eye, so check it out.

Aruna dan Lidahnya (Aruna and Her Palate)
If you love the food culture around the world, then you will find this movie likable. Some of the most unique and exotic foods from only a few Indonesian cities were included in this film. Also, the love tales conveyed by the whole major characters and the ideal rendition made this a fun movie for lovers of the romantic drama genre.

Aruna dan Lidahnya (Aruna and Her Palate) (Credits: Netflix)
Although there was some side material, I thought the major theme was the search for love. The movie is full of drama, and it is a fair mixture of culinary themes and drama. It tells us about the culture and food cuisines of Indonesia. If you wanna start the same journey about food, then this is the first movie you should watch.

Filosofi Kopi
The movie chronicles the struggles of Ben and Jody, two childhood buddies, as they attempt to run a quirky small forte coffee business in Jakarta that Jody has inherited along with a mountain of debt. Ben is the creative genius who truly understands both the beauty and the psychology of coffee, while Jody manages the business end of things.

Filosofi Kopi (Credits: Wiki)
The movie isn’t precisely action-filled, and it may be a little boring at times, but the acting is a method, and the conversation is realistic and well-structured. The film has a very great beginning, but when the background stories of the key characters are revealed in the latter half, there is a little propensity for melodrama. The overall plot is endearing in its genuineness. The film has beautiful scenes that you can watch and enjoy.

Impetigore
This story had a promising beginning: a young girl was working at a toll booth in the early morning hours when a man began to often pass by and gaze at her, giving her the creeps. As the man tells her everything about herself, including her name, her father’s name, and the hamlet where she was born, her anxiety comes to life and makes her feel even more uneasy.

Impetigore (Credits: Netflix)
From the very first stand, the movie is expertly made. It never ceases to be captivating. A few exposition dumps at the conclusion expose an influential piece of its mystery, but this isn’t really a problem. The information is mesmerizing and surprising.
Also, the second of them is entirely done with images, which satisfies us and allows us to fill in the blanks and end its account. All in all, a good horror flick with an interesting plot that is assured to keep you hooked.

27 Steps of May
27 Steps of May is a movie full of heavy emotions, and all of them are showcased beautifully in this movie. Despite the slowness, the characters’ multi-layered complexity provides for compelling follow-through. Both May and the fatherless kickboxer suppress their bottled-up rage in their own unique ways and for distinct reasons.

27 Steps of May (Credits: Netflix)
Long-lasting pain for May and guilt over not shadowing his kid from her father. The edgy quietness that marks the bulk of the scenes is made up of thousands of words that are kept and find their way into the two people’s attentiveness, subtle body language, and planned patterns.
Despite the time ought for its delicacy, it is utter genius. The size of Indonesian viewers has a long way to go. The theme and the illustration with the vision of the director are well displayed in this movie.

Cemara’s family
Cemara’s Family is a subtly beautiful movie that came out in 2020. Even if the plot is straightforward and quite predictable, the manner they present it may undoubtedly make us feel good. It’s definitely a fantastic package to see with your kids how a family weathered a hurricane, replete with rhythmic winks and humor.

One Day We’ll Talk About Today
I believe that its artists merit additional honor. While not spectacular, the narrative is strong, and the acting is ideal. Nonetheless, the enchanting language is one of the factors that makes the symbols ideal. You should be aware of this before viewing the movie.

One Day We’ll Talk About Today (Credits: Netflix)
Please pay close attention when there are crucial conversations going on. You’ll see how this movie is straight enough to affect you on a deep level. It really shows the level of dedication and thoughts that went into the movie. All the cast earns extra mention as they did their part really well.

My Stupid Boss 2
You must see this movie if you enjoy comedies. It is a usual Malay movie. drawn directly from a Malaysian background. A high sense of humor is recommended for this picture because it is so funny. If you don’t like it, you may still watch as long as you can control your anger since the movie is so irritating that it will make people angry.

My Stupid Boss 2 (Credits: Netflix)
According to the film’s place of origin, Malaysia, the music accompaniment is quite appropriate because it speaks Malay. This movie elevates Thailand’s societal backdrop in addition to the Malay one. Also, this movie presents a few perspectives on Malaysia and Thailand’s cultures and economies. My Stupid Boss 2 also creates a matter regarding how language is used in other countries.
It makes the movie sound more attractive. The most crucial aspect of these movies is how they resolve different plot obstacles in absurd ways. One thing to note is that My Stupid Boss 2 is the second leg of the movie that has the same name and premise.

Love for Sale 2

Love for Sale 2 (Credits: Netflix)
Arini returns to a whole new environment. Indra Tauhid, played by Adipati Dolken, is a 32-year-old unmarried man who is weary of his mom setting up dates for him, so he employs a female from the same dating app called Love Inc. to appease his mother’s concerns.
The script is still created by the same team. Disputes inside the family are basic presentations of the modern Indonesian family: difficult marriage issues under Indonesian social standards. From beginning to end, the plot moves without a hitch. The plot’s pacing and order are simple to follow, and it is funny and likable at the same time.

June & Kopi
June and Kopi are for all the animal lovers out there, especially dog lovers. The dogs behaved wonderfully, and the acting was the method. Why not? Stray dogs can have intrinsic brains as well. But nothing about the dogs truly annoyed me.

June & Kopi (Credits: Netflix)
June, the film’s prominent canine dog, was portrayed by two entirely distinct dogs. Original June looks like a white Belgian, whereas the substitution is a white husky. They are not the same breed.
Some of the critics mentioned that the dogs shown are too good to be true. It is a completely subjective thing but believes that dogs are smart too and have higher intelligence than humans. If you love dogs, then you will love June & Kopias. Well, totally recommended.

Headshot
If you have seen Iko Uwais’s flicks, then you already know what you can expect from him when it comes to action and gunfights. You may be familiar with the premise of the movie Headshot: a man who was found senseless and wounded on the coast wakes up in a small-town hospital with no memory of what happened.

Headshot (Credits: Netflix)
He is given a new name by the coexisting doctor’s female staff. Eventually, we learn that the amnesic guy is competent in self-defense techniques and hand-to-hand fighting. Although Jason Bourne, Kill Bill, or Faster may be compared by viewers, this movie isn’t your typical secret agent or counterattack flick.
This movie is a fantastic, high-octane, nasty, and gory action movie. As always, acting is fine, and it is filled with mad action. One who likes Raid and the aforementioned flicks will definitely enjoy Headshot, do check it out if you are a fan of Iko Uwais.

Crazy Awesome Teachers
Although I thought the crime and catching-the-criminal plotlines were unneeded and undermined the teaching theme, they do prove how poorly paid teachers are by verifying their desperation for money, and the comic parts are abundant. In addition, several scenes illustrate how poorly compensated tutors are.

Crazy Awesome Teachers (Credits: Netflix)
But still, the leg about finding the guilty party was a bit excessive. Overall, the comedy writing was able to make me chuckle, despite some cringe-worthy moments, and there were lessons to be learned from Taat’s character and his interactions with others and his father in particular. The storyline is very generic, and the plot is simple, but for me, this is the core of the movie, and it keeps the movie witty and likable.

Dilan 1990
In Indonesia, young women are very much into this movie. After the trailer was released, they created a buzz. The promise of seeing a good-looking playboy who offers secrets and pick-up lines and appears to care nothing but about their relationship is what causes people to fall madly in love with Dilan, even if it may be too cringe-inducing and corny for grownups.

Dilan 1990 (Credits: Netflix)
This movie has so powerful feelings. Dilan and Milea had some corny/sweet conversation at the beginning, and it concludes with a deep love connection. The outfits and color cinematography fit the historical period. This is a sweet film that stirs up memories of your first love and your schoolmates. You should definitely watch this movie for that feeling of nostalgia.

Ave Maryam
A forceful tale with nice cinematography that was taken from a religious text. Particularly the performances of Sister Maryam, played by Maudy Koesnady, and Father Joseph, played by Chicco Jericho, are fantastic. You will be satisfied with them because they did it so well. The plot is based on unpretentious affairs that happened to monks and nuns.

Ave Maryam (Credits: Netflix)
This movie documents how a common man can experience a sincere love affair with someone of any gender. The strength of this film comes from its photography, which often uses long shots to share to the spectator Sister Maryam’s thoughts about the austerity, melancholy, and desolation that permeate the nursing home. Other than all this, the movie has good moral lessons, and for all that, you should definitely watch Ave Maryam.

A Perfect Fit
A Perfect Fit is a movie that came out in 2021 and was directed by Hadrah Daeng Ratu. It is a typical Indonesian love story. Guy meets a girl and falls for her. She and her jerk fiancé are engaged. She begins to scrutinize everything. It’s an old story, but if there’s a fantastic romance in the core and a little spice added in, it seldom gets old.

A Perfect Fit (Credits: Netflix)
The tone of A Perfect Fit is inconsistent, it has a runtime that is far too long for a sappy rom-com, and it attempts to juggle a few too many things at once. Other than that, the roles portrayed by the artists were good. If you get past the runtime, as it feels long because the flick has nothing new to offer, you will enjoy the blend.

- Cast: Nadya Arina, Refal Hady, Giorgino Abraham, and Others

Beyond Skyline
In essence, Beyond Skyline picks up where the first film left off and flips everything so that we have an entertaining, well-written, well-acted, and quick-paced alien invasion film. Overall, the first film was everything that it was intended to be.

Beyond Skyline (Credits: Netflix)
You’ll be surprised by the amazing effects, among other things. Although they employed a good combination of real-world and CGI effects in this film, which must have really pushed their budget to the limit, there were a few sequences where the CGI was clear.
Even though the plot of Beyond Skyline is rather generic, Frank Grillo and Iko Uwais manage to make it as fun as they can, with the highlight coming in the third arc when the alien gets a very nice ass kicking. It failed to make a major amount of money, so the third movie is tricky to happen. But the second movie was a good watch, given that it had good CGI.

Layla Majnun
I adored Layla’s character and the way her culture was represented in the movie, but the movie could have been so much better if their love story hadn’t been rushed. Instead of using so many overly dramatic, slow-motion scenes, there should have been more private moments where the tension could have been built between the characters.

Layla Majnun (Credits: Netflix)
The actors Reza, played by Samir, and Acha, played by Layla, were excellent in their parts, and the film has a lot of heart. The two of them did a great job showering love and keeping the script alive. You may feel the pace of the movie is a bit slow as it delves deeper into the vision of the director.

Vengeance Is Mine. All Others Pay Cash (Credits: Wiki)
The two of them face several challenges in their daily lives. I believe this movie is a good watch. In accordance with the 1990s, this movie depicts the history and status of Indonesia. This movie has a very vintage feel to it thanks to the locale, the period, and even the character designs. The speech also has a strict speaking style and uses vocabulary from movies from the 1990s.
Not also spared from the many frequently occurring swear words. Moreover, a pretty interesting battle is shown in this movie that will keep you enacted and will keep you wondering. It is one of those classics from Indonesian cinema that one should definitely watch once.

Trese
Trese was released in 2021 and had only 1 season. A young lady named Alexandra Trese was assigned to look into cases with paranormal explanations. Police brought her in to investigate odd occurrences involving animals from Filipino folklore, such as man-eating ‘aswangs,’ half-horse ‘tikbalangs,’ and baby-like ‘tiyanaks.’

Trese (Credits: Netflix)
She was armed with her trusty kris knife, Sinag. Beautiful animation is used. The animators put in a lot of effort, and it is clear that a big budget was used. It’s one of the gorgeous adult animations I’ve seen in a while, which supports my claim that we want more programs like Trese.
Along with dealing with serious issues, including unmarried pregnancies, child abuse, and police brutality, it also contains graphic violence and gore. It will blow you away as it is one of the first animated projects from Indonesia, and for that, you should definitely watch it.

This Earth of Mankind
After watching this movie for the full three hours, I believe the director still doesn’t understand how to distinguish between scenes from the book and make the movie feel rough. Robert Mellema’s miscasting and contact lens use don’t look good either, and the supporting cast of Westerners has a stiff appearance.

This Earth of Mankind (Credits: Netflix)
Several conversations come out as forced for the mood of the colonial era’s specific characteristics, including steamships and trains. This fantastic film, which is based on the novel, was made even better by excellent acting, gorgeous costumes, and fantastic music.
See, this movie is based on a book, and there will always be a distinction. So one should never compare the two. Experience each of the things individually and then judge it for yourself.

May the Devil Take You
A guy in the movie makes a deal with an evil presence with a witch’s aid. Years pass by, and suddenly he becomes very poor and gets hospitalized because of disease; his siblings go back to his old place to find some things to sell to get money for treatment. They break the door that was not supposed to get open, and slowly all of them get killed one after the other.

May the Devil Take You (Credits: Netflix)
Later it was known that the filled man had killed the witch that helped him initially. The with took the hair of the man and cursed him when he ignored to pay the souls of the daughter sacrifice to pay her back. Traditional horror movies, which people still like watching, frequently featured voodoo and other black magic components.
Nevertheless, in order to surprise viewers, authors needed to come up with some original ideas, and this film has done so to a decent amount. It is not out-of-the-box scary, but it is suitable for someone who likes demons, witches, and the rituals surrounding them.

Geez & Ann
The primary character Ann is extremely self-centered and often puts her feelings above Geez’s. He tried everything he could to help her and brought her several presents, but she still snapped at him for little things.

Geez & Ann (Credits: Netflix)
She is highly emotional and doesn’t accept responsibility for her feelings. Oh my goodness, Gosh, I did so much for her, but what has Ann done for him? Keep your expectations in check, and the sailing will be smooth. If you expect something big from this movie, then you will be disappointed.

Tarung Sarung
Tarung Sarung is a remake of Karate Kid, it is just too obvious, and you will see that in the movie. But it is not a bad thing. Daniel LaRusso is the name of the lead character of The Karate Kid. The impact is clear and unmistakable, and it includes training methods that the main character doesn’t realize as such until much later, as well as a number of other regrettable beats.

Tarung Sarung (Credits: Netflix)
Your familiarity with the original may influence whether you think it is a tribute or a copy. Nonetheless, Yayan Ruhian does a good job as Mr. Miyagi, and Danji Zoni does a decent job as Deni. Just one thing that would have made it a tad different from the originals is the names.
At least the names should’ve been different; it’s funny even the names rhyme from the original Karate Kid. All in all, you know what you are getting; do not get it twisted. It is a decent watch.
