As the show Bad Monkey moves closer to its thrilling conclusion, the penultimate episode wreaks havoc on Andrew Yancy’s (Vince Vaughn) well-thought-out plans to catch a cunning couple. Episode 8 wraps up on a happy note, showcasing Yancy celebrating with his allies and humorously trying to convince Dawnie (Reese Antoinette) of Neville’s (Ronald Peet) charms.

As the day draws to a close, Yancy and Rosa (Natalie Martinez) say their goodbyes to the couple. However, curiosity gets the best of them, and they sneak back to witness Dawnie sharing a kiss with Neville, even after Yancy’s not-so-great attempts at being a wingman.

While they share laughter and joy, feeling optimistic that the end of the case is in sight, an unsettling feeling arises when Eve Stripling (Meredith Hagner) asks Rosa to visit her before heading to Miami.

Rosa’s Cover Is Blown in ‘Bad Monkey’ Episode 9

Eve starts the conversation with Rosa by pretending she wants to meet to discuss business before the hurricane hits. However, the tone quickly shifts to something darker when Eve begins asking probing personal questions about Rosa’s love life.

This change raises alarm bells for Rosa, who feels increasingly uncomfortable. Soon enough, the truth comes crashing down. Eve reveals she has a photo of Rosa, Yancy, and Claspers (Bob Clendenin) from the bar they frequented the night before. This shocking revelation leaves Rosa exposed, and she instinctively tries to escape. But just as she makes a break for it, Egg (David St. Louis) strolls in and captures her.

While waiting for Rosa to return, Yancy and Neville head back to the bar, where they find Gracie (Jodie Turner-Smith) sitting alone and looking sad at a table.

Despite Yancy’s disbelief in magic and Gracie’s wavering faith, he presses her to share any feelings or instincts she may have about their mission. Gracie warns them that Eve is aware of Rosa’s identity, hinting that someone she knows, likely Egg, might have informed Eve.

Panicked by this revelation, Yancy and Neville rush to Eve and Nick’s (Rob Delaney) mansion to rescue Rosa. However, they soon find out that she is not there. Instead, Yancy encounters a furious Nick, who brandishes a loaded shotgun.

Tension fills the air as Nick aims the gun at Yancy but hesitates when Yancy cleverly holds up Tilly, Eve’s beloved dog. Though Nick may not have any affection for the dog, he feels bound to obey Eve, who shouts at him to hold back. At the same time, Yancy tries to appeal to Nick’s emotions by mentioning his daughter, Caitlin (Charlotte Lawrence), hoping to sway him.

The situation becomes increasingly chaotic as Yancy and Nick engage in a heated back-and-forth. Meanwhile, Neville seizes the opportunity to sneak up behind Nick with a fishing rod, jabbing it into his back. In the resulting frenzy, Yancy and Neville manage to escape, albeit narrowly.

Bonnie Escapes Prison in ‘Bad Monkey’ Episode 9

On a different front, Bonnie (Michelle Monaghan) has been living it up in prison after setting fire to Yancy’s neighbor’s house. She appears to be quite comfortable, even charming a guard into doing her bidding

. During a visit from Agent Johnna (Ashley Nicole Black), Bonnie is praised for her audacious behavior in taking responsibility and seeking justice in her own unique way.

However, Bonnie is not satisfied with the eight-year prison sentence she has received. She inquires with Johnna about any possible way to reduce her time. Anyone familiar with Bonnie knows she does not follow rules easily and always gets what she desires, regardless of the length of time it takes.

The last scene we see of Bonnie is a daring escape. She recounts how she managed to flee from her captors: Egg had taken her to Nick’s office but had no intention of causing her harm. Instead, Egg aimed to use her kidnapping as bait to draw out Yancy, whom he saw as the mastermind behind the relentless pursuit.

As the conversation unfolds, Rosa explains that she often gets hungry when stressed, and she asks Egg if she can grab a protein bar from her purse. As she searches, she unexpectedly discovers the gun that Yancy had secretly placed in her purse.

Reluctantly, she grabs the gun, intending to use it only to scare Egg. However, panic sets in, and she accidentally shoots Egg in the leg while trying to escape. In the frenzy, she discards the gun near a creek as she races back to Dawnie’s place, grateful to be free but shaken by the experience.

Yancy and Rosa realize they need to lay low, but their presence on the island makes them stand out like a sore thumb. Leaving the island proves more difficult than they anticipated, as all planes are grounded in preparation for the storm.

However, they find an unlikely ally in Claspers. They approach him and strike a deal, blackmailing him by revealing that they know he is transporting drug smugglers on his plane. The deal is sealed with a photo of the three of them, as all Claspers really wants is friendship.

When the moment comes to leave, Yancy insists that Rosa should go home while he stays behind to finish what he started with Eve and Nick. Like many characters in the series, Rosa begs Yancy to let it go and choose her instead.

The storm approaches rapidly, and they must make a quick decision. In a moment of desperation, she presents him with an ultimatum: if he does not come with her, their relationship will be over.

The screen cuts to a plane flying over turbulent seas, dodging flashes of lightning, leaving viewers in suspense about who might be on board.

‘Bad Monkey’ Episode 9 Hails the Dragon Queen’s Return

Simultaneously, Gracie’s storyline takes an intriguing turn as it begins with her sleeping on a bench outside the airport, waiting for her flight off the island. Upon discovering that all flights are grounded, Ya-ya’s (L. Scott Caldwell) prophetic words echo in her mind: “The island will not let you leave.”

Feeling despondent, Gracie heads to the bar to wait out the storm, hoping for a change in her fortunes. While there, she has a conversation with Yancy and Neville, who try to cheer her up.

As her faith in cultural magic begins to fade, Neville’s parting words resonate with her: “You ain’t so scary anymore.” Later, Gracie spots Asia (Lauren F. Walker), a girl drowning her sorrows in drinks, and decides to join her.

They engage in a conversation about magic, faith, and purpose, ultimately ending up at Gracie’s mother’s grave. When Gracie turns back, Asia has mysteriously vanished—leaving viewers to wonder if she was ever real. Regardless of her reality, Asia guides Gracie back to her roots, helping her rediscover her strength.

Meanwhile, Ya-ya encounters Lulu (Amina Massai), a young girl who senses that the trees are angry. Ya-ya recognizes the magic within Lulu and feels compelled to linger, promising to teach and guide her once she is older and prepared.

Despite returning the electronic wheelchair and declining Gracie’s invitation to leave the island, she needs to quickly retrieve her walking cane from her home.

While searching through Gracie’s belongings, Eve abruptly storms into the house, demanding to know Gracie’s whereabouts. Following the earlier confrontation where Neville stabbed Nick with a fishing rod, Nick is now gravely injured.

Eve takes on the role of caregiver, rushing to Gracie’s house to get painkillers while Nick bleeds profusely on the kitchen floor, with Tilly licking up his blood. Ya-ya informs Eve that Gracie is at her mother’s grave, and as she turns around, she sees that Gracie’s altar has been restored to its former beauty.

When Eve arrives at the graveyard, she finds the Dragon Queen instead of Gracie. Adorned with white markings and radiating power, the Queen fiercely rebuffs Eve’s pleas in the pouring rain.

With all her strength and menace, she warns Eve that she will get what is coming to her. As the hurricane rages on, the Queen’s eyes burn with fury, leaving viewers with a breathtaking image just before the credits roll.
