ABC’s 9-1-1 is famous for its thrilling rescues and intense action. For the past seven seasons, the series has shown the 118 Firehouse team as they try to save people in Los Angeles from many disasters. Last season, two of their own needed rescuing from a capsized cruise ship.
Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett) show great bravery when they find out their ship has been taken over by pirates.
However, they still need help from the crew, who fly in on a helicopter during a storm to bring them to safety. This is just the beginning of the action, with lots of drama unfolding throughout the rest of the season.
Season 7 also brings some happiness, especially when Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chim (Kenneth Choi) finally get married.
There are some challenges to reach the altar, mainly because Chim has a serious brain condition.
Fans hope these two will find a way to enjoy their marriage without many tragedies getting in their way. Here are some reminders of what has been happening with the 118 to prepare you for Season 8.
Buck and Tommy’s New Relationship on 9-1-1
Buck (Oliver Stark) has had many girlfriends on the show over the years. His most interesting relationship started last season when he began to have feelings for LAFD pilot Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.).
This leads to healthy growth for his character, allowing his relationship with Tommy to develop. It may not be an easy path ahead, but Season 7 ends with positive signs for their future together.
Major Parenting Issues for 9-1-1 Characters
Season 7 is tough for the parents on the show. One of the most heartbreaking developments involves Eddie (Ryan Guzman) and his son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh). In a strange twist of events, Eddie starts dating a woman who looks just like his late wife.

Christopher and Eddie’s current girlfriend walk in on them, leading to confusion for Christopher, especially since she resembles his mom.
Feeling lost, Christopher asks Eddie’s parents if he can stay with them for a while. Eddie feels heartbroken but knows he needs to regain his son’s trust, so he allows the move.
It is unclear how long Christopher will be in Texas, and a big question for the new season is how Eddie will handle this big change. Will he struggle even more, or will this help him improve as a father?
Besides Eddie, Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Karen (Tracie Thoms) also face serious parenting problems. They were fostering a little girl named Mara (Askyler Bell), who quickly became part of their family. However, an earlier call from Hen’s work now haunts her.
Councilwoman Olivia Ortiz (Veronica Falcon) blames Hen for not giving better medical care to her son, who died in a multi-car accident in Episode 7.
Ortiz seeks revenge and tries to stop Hen and Karen’s adoption of Mara. She even goes further, working to remove them as approved foster parents, so they can no longer keep Mara.
The couple is heartbroken until a solution comes at the end of Episode 10. Maddie and Chim decide to become foster parents so Mara can stay with them while Hen and Karen sort out their situation.
This allows Hen and Karen to still be involved with Mara, whom they see as their daughter. Season 8 will likely show the complications with Ortiz, who will not give up her revenge plans easily. For now, Mara is safe with Maddie and Chim.
Bobby’s Replacement on 9-1-1
Even when these characters face personal drama, they can count on each other at the firehouse. However, their bond faces challenges this past season.
First, Bobby and Athena are targeted by an arsonist at their home, and then Bobby suffers a serious heart attack while rescuing Athena.
Athena and a man from Bobby’s past, Amir (Malcolm-Jamal Warner), discover that cartel members angry with Bobby are behind the fire.
Athena manages to arrest them, but they will need to put a lot of effort into rebuilding their home and feeling secure again after this event.
Due to guilt and grief from Amir’s return, Bobby decides to resign from the 118 and retire early, telling only Athena.
However, after surviving the fire and health scare, Bobby changes his mind. He returns to the firehouse at the end of Episode 10, ready to resume his role as captain.
This is when Captain Gerrard (Brian Thompson) appears. He is a racist bully from Hen and Chim’s past and has plans for the 118. Gerrard informs the crew that he is taking over as captain because Bobby technically quit two weeks ago.

The episode and season end without the crew fully understanding what Gerrard’s shocking takeover means for them. Is Bobby really out of a job? Gerrard’s style differs greatly from Bobby’s, putting the crew’s family-like bonds in jeopardy.
Season 8 promises a new heart-pounding disaster (killer bees, perhaps?), and a struggle to remove Gerrard from their firehouse. The 118 will be very busy in future episodes. With many interesting plot points already set, the next season will surely bring excitement.
Seasons 1-7 of 9-1-1 are available to stream on Hulu in the U.S. Season 8 will premiere on September 26 on ABC, with new episodes every Thursday.

The yellow tribe, Gata, includes Andy Rueda, Anika Dhar, Jon Lovett, Rachel LaMont, Sam Phalen, and Sierra Wright. The red tribe, Lavo, includes Aysha Welch, Genevieve Mushaluk, Kishan Patel, Rome Cooney, Solomon “Sol” Yi, and Teeny Chirichillo.
Opening Challenge Results
Jeff Probst welcomed eighteen excited castaways to Survivor 47, ready to play the game they love. In the first challenge, the castaways faced a test in the jungles of Fiji.
Two players raced under a muddy net into the jungle to retrieve two puzzle pieces from one of three obstacles.
Each pair had to get their pieces and then build a puzzle. The winning tribe earned supplies, including a pot, a machete, and flint. The Gata tribe, wearing yellow, surprised everyone by winning their supplies, even after starting off in last place.
First Twist of Survivor 47
As usual, Tuku and Lavo had the chance to earn their tribal supplies. Each tribe had to blindly select one castaway for a challenge, which was important since they did not know what they were choosing.
Aysha Welch volunteered for Lavo. TK Foster from Tuku won a game of rock, paper, scissors to represent his tribe.
In a change from past seasons, the Sweat vs. Savvy challenge was no longer in play. This time, it was a head-to-head race between TK and Aysha.
They had to search the jungle for keys. The first one to find the last key would unlock their supplies. After a late mistake by Aysha, TK won the race and earned supplies for Tuku.
Hidden Immunity Idols and Advantages
On the Tuku tribe, Gabe Ortis found a Beware Advantage clue while picking up a piece of wood. He didn’t want TK to see, so he hid it when TK stepped away. When Gabe opened the Beware Advantage, he discovered he had to dig up a box on the path.
He learned that he could not vote at Tribal Council until he had the idol. Gabe found the box and then learned he needed to get a key from some vines.
While trying to get the key, TK caught him. Gabe tried to convince TK that he was only looking for keys, not the Beware Advantage.
After connecting with Sue Smey, Gabe asked her to help him as he opened the box. Gabe learned he could keep the idol for one Tribal Council or keep looking for another one that would last for three Tribals. He chose to take the risk and find another box.
Early in the morning, Gabe broke the driftwood to get the key. He faced another decision: keep the idol for three Tribals or search for another idol that would last until the Final Five.
Gabe decided to keep the three Tribal Idol because it was already tough. Now, Gabe has a Hidden Immunity Idol and his vote back.
On the Lavo tribe, Rome took a risk to find the Hidden Immunity Idol. His tribe members knew he was away from camp, likely searching for an advantage.
Without reading the “Beware” part of the clue, Rome took it and ran. Like Gabe, he had to find a box with what he needed for the idol.
He planned to wait until night to search. While looking for driftwood, he had to use water to reveal his next clue, but Aysha caught him pretending not to know what he was doing.
Aysha now wanted Rome out. Rome continued his search, where the key was at the bottom of the tribe’s well.
He succeeded, but before he could unlock the box, his tribe caught him at the well. Even with the key, Rome did not find the Hidden Immunity Idol or keep his vote at the next Tribal Council.
First Immunity Challenge Winner
In the first Immunity Challenge, each tribe started in the water and had to paddle a boat in the ocean to collect three heavy boxes.
After that, they dragged the boxes through a net before building a puzzle. Besides immunity, they also played for a reward. The first two tribes to finish earned a Survivor tool kit.

The challenge did not go well. Jeff Probst said it was one of the worst starts to a challenge in Survivor history. The yellow tribe went off course, and the blue tribe flipped their boat. Lavo, the red tribe, finished first, winning immunity and the large toolkit. The competition was between Tuku and Gata.
While Gata worked on their puzzle, Andy Rueda ran into the jungle and nearly fainted. Medical staff had to check on him as the challenge continued. In the end, Tuku earned immunity and a small toolkit. The losing Gata tribe lost their flint and had to meet Jeff Probst at Tribal Council.
First Player Voted Out
After a tough performance and a shocking move from Andy, who turned on his ally Jon Lovett, it was time to make a decision.
At Gata beach, Andy tried to win back trust from his tribe because he was in danger of being voted out.
Jon felt he needed to protect himself since he did not fit in with the younger members of his tribe. The women and Sam were unhappy with Andy and saw Jon as a threat. To keep their tribe strong, they wanted to ensure the right decision was made.

After lighting a fire and settling into their new Tribal Council, the Gata Tribe spoke with Jeff Probst about what happened after their loss.
Early on, Sierra Wright said Anika Dhar was the leader. Meanwhile, Jon Lovett used his background as a presidential writer to talk himself out of trouble.
Andy admitted he felt like an outsider, which started at the beginning of the episode. He dropped his need to please everyone, but after Tribal Council, he might need to win back their trust.
By a vote of 5-1, Jon Lovett became the first castaway voted out of Survivor 47. Andy, Anika, Rachel, Sam, and Sierra voted for Jon, while Jon voted for Anika.
What’s Next for Survivor 47?
Next time on Survivor! The Gata Tribe must deal with their decision to keep Andy. Anika called Andy “toxic clingy boyfriend.” For Lavo, they realize that Rome is a lot to handle.
On Tuku, someone called them losers, and Sue looks angry. Will Andy help his tribe win, or will he be a liability?
