For the first 4/5 of the film, Megan is Missing (2011) is a relatively ordinary horror film. However, the film’s final act is so unsettling and horrifying that it regularly becomes popular with new horror fan communities. Most recently, in 2020, the movie went viral on TikTok, with people recording their responses to the final 20 minutes of the movie.
The popularity of the trend grew to the point where “Megan is Missing” director Michael Goi created his own Tik tok, claiming that while the footage used in the movie isn’t “genuine,” forensic experts helped him make it as authentic as possible. Goi claims that in order to deter real children from contacting strangers online, he made Megan’s Missing as frightening as he could.
Is The “Megan Is Missing” Based On A True Event?
“Megan Is Missing,” which was directed by Michael Goi, was not based on a true event, but it was said that Miranda Gaddis and Ashley Pond’s kidnapping in 2002 served as inspiration.

“Megan Is Missing” Plot
In January 2007, best friends Megan Stewart and Amy Herman, both 14 years old, went missing. To raise awareness of the significance of children’s online safety, investigators compiled web-chat footage, home movies, and press accounts recording their disappearances. Megan excels academically in high school and is well-liked by her classmates. She does, however, have a broken connection with her mother and a drug problem, as evidenced by YouTube footage from January 2.
Amy has a positive relationship with her parents and exhibits a reluctance to let go of her youth through her love of plush animals. Amy is a victim of bullying despite her close friendship with Megan. In an effort to help her fit in, Megan extends her an invitation to a rave party she’s attending to honor Amy’s forthcoming birthday. According to the video taken the night of the party, Amy is assaulted and clearly uncomfortable when she declines to have sex with one of the men there.
Amy is surprised when she walks in on Megan giving the party’s host oral sex in exchange for drugs.

Formerly the Senior Supervisory Special Agent of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, Jason Gideon played a criminal profiler in the “Criminal Mind” television series. Gideon abruptly left the BAU at the start of Season Three because of emotional problems brought on by the murder of his lover. David Rossi, a close friend, and former partner of his, currently holds the job. He was killed by Donnie Mallick in Season 10, Episode 13, “Nelson’s Sparrow.”
Despite the fact that it is difficult to imagine Criminal Minds without David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), the character was introduced in Season 3 of “Criminal Minds” as a sort of stand-in for Jason Gideon. Mandy Patinkin was the biggest name on the cast roster when Criminal Minds premiered, and he was unquestionably the show’s leading man.
He led the other team members as the BAU’s leader and had the last say in investigation decisions. Upon learning that his girlfriend, Sarah Jacobs (Moira Squier), had been killed by serial killer Frank Breitkopf in the Season 2 finale of “Criminal Minds,” Gideon’s commitment to tracking down and profiling criminals started to waver.
Although they had known one another since they were young, the couple had only recently started dating. Gideon was obviously devastated by Sarah’s passing, and he felt bad since the BAU was looking into the person who killed her. Gideon has sequestered himself in a cabin for the duration of the first episode of Season 3’s “Criminal Minds” (“Doubt”) to reflect on his decisions in life.

How Did Gideon Die In “Criminal Minds”?
Gideon’s decision to let an unsub go while looking into another case results in both her death and the death of another young woman. When Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) visits Gideon’s cabin and finds the man’s message and gun, he decides that he wants to quit the BAU. Due to his employment and Sarah’s passing, Gideon claimed that he had lost trust in happy endings.
Although it wasn’t until 2012 that the public realized Gideon’s abrupt departure was due to Mandy disliking the show, there had been speculations about the character’s potential comeback for years.
The surviving BAU members found that Gideon was killed off-screen by another serial killer, Donnie Mallick, in Season 10 Episode 13, titled “Nelson’s Sparrow,” which dashed their hopes (Ayre Gross). In the tragic “Nelson’s Sparrow” episode, the BAU was dispatched to look into the death of their former mentor. Gideon’s body was discovered and shot to death in the cabin he had previously called home.
Did Gideon Return For The “Criminal Minds” Series Finale?
Young Gideon pays Rossi a “visit” five years after his assassination to give him advice on how to track down Everett Lynch, a.k.a. the Chameleon. Rossi and Gideon have previously appeared in younger incarnations of the program.
The first instance of this was in the episode where Gideon passed away, and viewers got to see how the two had collaborated in the past. It was further revealed that Gideon named his baby Stephen, the same as Rossi’s middle name.
Thanks to their old friendship, Rossi could explain Gideon’s death in the present. The appearance of a young Gideon beside a modern-day Rossi in the series finale was a first. Gideon’s time at the BAU was also depicted in the flashbacks, which occurred while Spencer was unconscious due to the explosion in the previous episode.
While the performers did not reprise their roles, other past characters, like Hotchner and Morgan, were also depicted in these flashbacks.
