This evening at 11:00 PM JST, Toei Animation, a legendary studio and leader in the anime industry, announced that “One Piece,” the long-running and globally loved series by creator Eiichiro Oda, will take a break from production starting today, Sunday, October 13. This follows the release of Episode 1122 earlier today.

Fans can expect new episodes from the Egghead arc to return in April 2025 with a new regular time slot, which will be revealed at Jump Festa 2025 on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

During this production break, Toei Animation has prepared new weekly “One Piece” content to keep fans entertained. Starting on Sunday, October 20 at 9:30 AM JST, Toei Animation will air “ONE PIECE FAN LETTER,” a special episode celebrating the 25th anniversary of “One Piece.”

This 30-minute ensemble drama shows the Straw Hat crew reuniting, seen through the eyes of non-pirate characters. Set in the Sabaody Archipelago after the Paramount War, the story follows a young girl who admires Nami as she goes on a small adventure.

Next, Toei Animation will launch the “One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga” starting on Sunday, October 27 at 9:30 AM JST with Episode 1. New episodes will air weekly at the same time, with the final episode set for Sunday, March 30 at 9:30 AM JST. This special version is a re-edited take on the original Fish-Man Island arc from the “One Piece” series, which originally aired between 2011-2012.

It has been condensed into a 21-episode arc with all scenes re-shot, plus new animation sequences.

The re-edit also includes updated opening and ending themes, featuring a modern visual style and Dolby Atmos sound quality. The new opening theme, “We Go!” sung by Kitadani Hiroshi, will be performed alongside special guests. The new ending theme is “Sailing” (Episodic version) sung by BE:FIRST.

“One Piece” is produced by Toei Animation and is based on the best-selling manga by Eiichiro Oda. The series follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat crew on their journey to find “One Piece,” the legendary treasure of Gol D. Roger, the former King of the Pirates. Since its Japanese TV debut in 1999, “One Piece” has become a global pop culture icon, attracting millions of fans of all ages.

The franchise now includes 15 feature films, many video games, a trading card game, and a vast range of licensed merchandise and entertainment experiences.

With the Thousand Sunny now equipped to travel underwater, the next stop is the Fish-Man Island. “One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga” is a special edited version of the original arc from “One Piece” in an abridged 21-episode story with an enhanced contemporary visual look.

Legendary anime studio Toei Animation is returning to New York Comic Con (NYCC) this year with a special celebration of three beloved franchises: Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Digimon. At NYCC 2024, Toei Animation will spotlight these fan-favorite series with a mix of celebrity panels and exciting fan experiences.

The studio’s exhibit booth (#2635) will feature two pop-up shops, including the popular Toei Animation X Dim Mak Pop-Up Shop. This shop will offer a curated selection of One Piece merchandise such as hoodies, t-shirts, and shorts, along with exclusive NYCC releases like a Straw Hats crew puffer tote bag, Egghead Luffy skate deck, and an enamel pin collection.

For the first time at NYCC, Toei Animation will also present the Mugiwara Store Pop-Up Shop, recreating the famous Japanese retail concept and the world’s largest official One Piece store.

This shop will feature exclusive One Piece merchandise previously available only in Japan, including items from the new Harajuku store. Fans can visit these unique shopping experiences at the Toei Animation booth during regular NYCC hours.

Toei Animation’s panel schedule kicks off with the Dragon Ball DAIMA Special Panel on Day One, Thursday, October 17, at 12:45 pm on the Empire Stage. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball, Toei Animation will share insights into the creation of the new world in Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Host Monica Rial (English voice of Bulma) will be joined by Akio Iyoku (Executive Producer of the Dragon Ball DAIMA series) and other special guests. Before the panel, there will be an encore screening of the premiere episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA with English subtitles.

Later on Day One, at 3:30 pm in Room 409, Toei Animation will host the Digimon Adventure Panel. Special guest Hiromi Seki, a Digimon expert and the “Mother of Sunday Morning Anime,” will join Host Justin Rojas to discuss the history and future of Digimon Adventure.

Seki has been involved with the series since its beginning, including producing the original Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02.

On Day Two, Friday, October 18, at 12:45 pm on the Empire Stage, Toei Animation will present the One Piece Panel. The panel will feature Producer Ryuta Koike, Series Director Satoshi Ito, and Creative Director Masayuki Takagi, who are behind the hit One Piece episodic series.

Host Jacki Jing will lead the discussion with the creative team and English dub cast members Colleen Clinkenbeard (voice of Luffy) and Christopher Sabat (voice of Zoro).
