The second episode of Reacher Season 3 continues right where the first episode ended. Jack tells Duffy that Theresa was being held in the cellar of Beck’s storage shed. However, she is no longer there. Jack believes she was moved because of his unexpected presence.
Since she is still being fed, she must be alive. However, this is not necessarily a good sign. If Beck or his associates are keeping her in good condition, they may be planning to sell her to the highest bidder. Jack realizes he cannot investigate further at that moment because he must return to his room before Duke finds out he is missing.
While heading back, Jack notices a man named Angel Doll arriving at Beck’s estate. Meanwhile, at the cabin where Duffy, Elliot, and Guillermo are holding Beck’s driver, Duffy becomes aggressive. She tries to force the driver to reveal information about Theresa’s whereabouts.
However, the driver claims he knows nothing about a girl being held captive. Guillermo and Elliot stop Duffy before she takes things too far and harms him before their mission is complete.
Jack Follows Angel Doll to the Impound Lot
At Beck’s estate, Duke gives Jack an order. He must follow Angel Doll to the impound lot to find the pickup truck that was used in Richard’s fake kidnapping. Duke wants to trace the truck back to the people who are threatening Beck and his son.
Before leaving, Jack secretly informs Duffy. He warns her that since all the vehicles from the staged kidnapping were sent to the impound, Beck’s car will be there too.
The official story is that Richard’s kidnappers first set off an explosion in Beck’s car, killing the driver before attempting to take Richard. This means the car should have evidence, such as blood and remains.
However, since the driver is still alive and in Duffy’s custody, their story could quickly fall apart if Angel Doll decides to check the car closely. Duffy understands the risk and rushes to the impound lot to remove Beck’s car before Angel Doll arrives with Jack.

During the trip, Angel Doll talks a lot. However, the most important thing Jack learns from his chatter is that Beck is not the real leader. Someone else is controlling the entire operation.
Duffy’s Clever Move at the Impound Lot
At the impound lot, Duffy faces a problem. Beck’s car is blocked by another badly damaged confiscated vehicle, making it impossible to move. She tries to push the other car, but it has no front wheels, so it does not budge. Meanwhile, Jack does his best to delay Angel Doll.
He takes an unnecessary bathroom break and buys an oversized coffee to buy Duffy more time. However, it is still not enough.
Thinking quickly, Duffy swaps the license plates on Beck’s car with the ones from the wrecked vehicle. Then, she hides underneath Beck’s car to avoid being seen.
When Angel Doll arrives, he tries to convince the security guard to let him inspect the impounded cars. To make his case stronger, he hands the guard a large bundle of cash. However, the guard is too honest to accept a bribe. As Angel Doll prepares to pull out his gun, Jack quickly knocks the guard unconscious and takes Angel Doll inside the impound lot.
Angel Doll carefully takes pictures of the pickup truck but also notices Beck’s car. Since Duffy switched the plates, Jack confidently says it is a different vehicle. Angel Doll becomes suspicious. He wonders why there is another car, identical to Beck’s, that looks like it has been damaged in the same way.
Jack cleverly explains that, because of the brutal crime, Beck’s real car is stored in a temperature-controlled facility for further investigation. The car they see is just a similar-looking one that happened to come from Delaware. This explanation satisfies Angel Doll, and he does not investigate further.
Duffy, still hiding underneath the car, breathes a sigh of relief as Angel Doll and Jack leave.
Jack Takes On a New Role
After returning to Beck’s estate, Jack tries to get some rest. However, he has been awake for nearly 24 hours, and Beck has other plans for him. Beck orders Jack to meet Duke and Paulie at the gym. Before that, we briefly see Zachary Beck and his son Richard, highlighting their tense relationship.
At the gym, Duke gives Jack a new task. Jack must drive a truck loaded with goods to New London, Connecticut. The truck has a GPS tracker, so Jack cannot take any detours. He is also not allowed to check the contents of the container.
Before heading out, Paulie, a massive and intimidating man, tries to provoke Jack into fighting him. However, Jack outsmarts him. Instead of taking the bait, he tricks Paulie into hurting himself, making him even angrier. Fans already know that a fight between these two is inevitable. This moment serves as the setup for that upcoming battle.
Jack calls Duffy and explains that this delivery is a test of his loyalty. He must pass it, but they also need to know what he is transporting. He arranges to meet Duffy and her team at a gas station, where they can inspect the truck while making it seem like Jack is taking a break.
Jack also contacts Frances Neagley, his old friend from the 110th. He asks her to dig up information on Paulie, Duke, and Angel Doll. However, he does not give her too many details because he does not want to put her in danger.
At the gas station, Jack ensures no one is following him before meeting with Duffy and Guillermo. While waiting for a sniffer dog, Jack gives Theresa’s earring to Duffy. When they open the truck, they find only rugs inside. Officer Grunert arrives with her trained dog, Pfizer, to check for drugs or Theresa’s body. However, the dog finds nothing.
Jack Covers His Tracks and Learns More About Beck’s Power
Since they have already wasted time, Jack asks Guillermo to take the GPS tracker and drive toward New London to keep up appearances. Meanwhile, Jack reseals the truck’s lock so the receivers do not notice anything unusual.
While driving, Duffy gets a response from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The report reveals that Beck’s shipments are inspected ten times less than other shipments. This suggests that Beck has high-level connections within Customs, allowing him to smuggle illegal goods without getting caught.
Jack reminds Duffy that, according to Angel Doll, Beck is not the real boss. There is someone else in control—possibly Quinn. Jack shares a personal story about Quinn, explaining that he once killed a rookie Jack had trained. The memory is painful, and Jack struggles to describe it. Duffy notices this and does not push him further.
Jack drops Duffy off, retrieves the GPS tracker from Guillermo, and delivers the truck to its destination in New London. The only complaint he receives is that he arrived late.
Jack Eliminates Angel Doll
After completing the delivery, Jack returns to the Maine branch and meets Angel Doll at the warehouse. Angel Doll has been tracking Jack’s every move. He seems pleased with Jack’s performance but has suspicions.
He begins to reveal that he knows Jack is hiding something. Despite acting foolish, Angel Doll is observant. He recalls how Jack delayed their trip to the impound, stopped him from killing the security guard, and avoided hotwiring the minivan himself. Based on these clues, Angel Doll accuses Jack of working with the authorities.
He prepares to discuss this with Duke. However, before he can say anything, Jack acts fast. He slams Angel Doll’s head into a sharp paper memo holder, killing him instantly. Jack hides Angel Doll’s body under the table, planning to dispose of it later.
Before Duke arrives, Jack collects himself and meets him outside. He then returns to Beck’s estate, knowing that things will only get more complicated from here.
Jack has now taken a life to protect his cover. His mission is becoming more dangerous, and the challenges ahead will test him more than ever.
