Demon Slayer has once again returned with Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc, and with that, viewers are excited to get introduced to more upper-moon demons and find out more about their power and abilities. One of the demons that viewers are dying to know about is Upper Moon One Kokushibo, who made his first anime appearance in Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc episode 1.

After his first anime appearance, Kokushibo was trending all over social media. Fans had many things to say about his character, but what struck them most was his six eyes. Kokushibo has the highest rank among all the upper-moon demons, so he is also one of the closest to Muzan. It is obvious Muzan values him more than all the other upper-rank demons.

Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc anime episodes have already given us a hint that all the other upper-level demons are not very fond of him, especially competitive Akaza, who is keen to take over his position. Let’s find out what kind of power and abilities Upper Moon One Kokushibo has under its belt.

Upper Moon One: Kokushibo’s Powers

Upper Moon One Kokushibo maintains the highest rank among the 12 Kazuki, so it is apparent that he is the most powerful among all the other demons. If we focus on Kokushibo’s strength, he pretty much exceeds the most powerful raw strength after Demon King Muzan. Kokushibo carries a giant flesh sword with him that possesses the power to manipulate itself into multiple branches of the main sword itself.

It is pretty much impossible for any Hashira to actually escape from his sword unharmed. Kokushibo is the only demon that falls second to Muzan, so he carries the most brute strength, as he is currently the demon that carries most of Muzan’s blood. Kokushibo’s brute strength was witnessed for the first time when he chopped off Muichiro’s arm by just using his hand.

Upper-level demons mostly possess an insane amount of strength; in some cases, they are even able to shake the ground or kill people with their bare fists. We can assume that Kokushibo can do much destruction to the surroundings and his opponent in a battle with just his fists alone. Kokushibo has the ability to flesh demon art like most of the upper-ranked demons.

Kokushibo has the upper hand on this ability since he can also create his demonic sword using this ability, which he utilizes with his breath of the moon. Kokushibo is the only demon who is capable of using breathing abilities, and his blood demon arts provide extra skills and powers, which is why he still maintains the position of Upper Moon One.

Kokushibo’s main demon art is called Crescent Moon Blades. Through this art, Kokushibo manages to form Crescent Moon Blades all around his sword, and he even uses it to cut off his opponent’s necks and other body parts easily without giving them much time to figure it out.

Upper Moon One: Kokushibo’s Abilities

Dark Moon, Evening Palace: Kokushibo’s first form is called Dark Moon, Evening Palace. In this form, he uses his sword to create crescent blades. This restricts the opponent from entering his personal space, and he mostly keeps them away from his main body by using this technique.

Pearl Flower Moongazing: The second form is called Pearl Flower Moongazing, and Kokushibo makes use of this technique to form many crescent crescents. He defends himself by using this technique as well as sending crescent-shaped blades in his opponent’s direction.

Loathsome Moon, Chains: Third Form Loathsome Moon, Chains causes most of the destruction to his surroundings, and in this technique, he forms two gigantic crescent shapes with his sword, and a large number of tiny crescents get spread all over the surrounding area, which can cause mass destruction to the small surrounding area.

Moon Spirit Calamitous Eddy: Kokushibo’s fifth form lets him make a swirl of crescent moon blades. Moon Spirit Calamitous Eddy can suck the enemy inside its vortex, and it is one of the most amazing techniques.

Perpetual Night, Lonely Moon Incessant: It is his sixth form in which Kokushibo throws around a blast of crescent-shaped slashes several meters in front of him. Kokushibo used this technique on Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa, and it was not extremely powerful for him to withstand the force of the crescents.

The Family That Preys, yes, it actually has preys in it, and it is not a typo; it is an American comedy-drama that was released in the year 2007. The movie was written, directed, and produced by Tyler Perry , and he even acted in the movie. This situation reminds me of the movie Playback Time by Carson Clay in Mr. Beans Holiday.

The movie cannot be considered a commercial or critical success. The film grossed 37.1 million dollars domestically and averaged 53% rotten tomatoes and a 5.9 IMDb rating. The movie cannot be considered a critical failure either because a lot of reviewers rated this movie average.

Other than Tyler Perry, who plays the role of Ben in the movie, we have Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard playing the main characters, Charlotte and Alice, respectively. Sanaa Lathan, Cole Hauser, KaDee Strickland, Taraji P. Henson, etc., also play supporting roles in the series.

Charlotte and Alice are two women who share a strong friendship despite the economic gap between them. The basic plot of the movie revolves around the dramas and problems created by greed and the affairs of their family members and how it affects them and the families as a whole.

The plot of The Family That Preys

Charlotte is a wealthy woman who goes through the troubles every rich family goes through, the family members trying to take her money from her. Her best friend is Alice, who has struggled but managed to raise her two daughters while running a diner. They maintain their good relationship despite the social and economic status that divides them.

The prologue of the story begins with Charlotte hosting Alices’ daughter Andrea’s wedding to Chris. She couldn’t do the same for her son William and his wife Jillian because they eloped to escape this very thing.

Andrea’s sister Pam is now married to Ben, with whom Chris is planning to open his own construction company. Andrea has a three-year-old son Oam takes care of him and looks after Alice’s Diner.

But not everything is going great because Andrea is actually having an affair with William, which is absolutely gonna put her in trouble, but it looks like she does not care. She actually doesn’t care about a lot of things when she is not helping her mother out, but she has many designer clothes and even a Mercedes. These are actually the perks of having an affair with William, which she is enjoying.

Chris’ dreams of opening his own construction company are rebuked by Andrea. Meanwhile, he, after getting his loan application rejected, finds out that Andrea has deposited $300,000 in the bank. When confronted, she refuses to reveal much and argues for financial privacy. Meanwhile, William, on the other hand, is planning to take over the family business and even plans to vote his mother out. Charlotte hires Abigail, aka Abby, as COO.

Alice and Charlotte go for a road trip, during which it is revealed that Alice has early-onset of Alzheimer’s. Later, Abby and Jillian find out about the affair between Andrea and William. Abby even warns Andrea that she will lose her job, but Andrea believes William won’t let anything happen to her.

Meanwhile, Chris takes Andrea’s money to open his own construction company, and this pisses Andrea off. She reveals she is having an affair with William, and the money is from him. William’s plan to vote his mom out fails when she brings in the biggest investor in their company Alice, who has been getting lessons on investment from her customer, who used to work for William.

William, after getting fired, ignores Andrea, even when she claims that he is her son’s father. Later on, Charlotte dies due to consuming pills wrong, and her eulogy is said by Alice.

The ending of The Family That Preys

I feel like Charlotte’s death was so unexpected, and I can’t even understand exactly what was the reason for that. The movies end with the divorce/separation between Alice and Chris, which we all expected at one point. Their relationship was beyond salvation.

What we did not expect was William and Jilliam getting back together. He is as responsible for the affair as Andrea, so I don’t understand why he is not left pathetic at the end. Andrea lives in a low-rent place with the child support she receives from Chris, who is now doing well after opening his own construction company.

There is nothing much to explain in the movie, and it is a very moral ending for everyone. But I feel like William was easily left off the hook, but then again, he lost his mother and was fired from the job. So I guess Karma really pushed through in the ending.
