Londoner Neil Bennett travels to Acapulco for the holidays with his sister Alice and her two children, Colin and Alexa, who speak little English. Eat at high-end restaurants while staying in a posh hotel. All of the family’s time is spent doing something enjoyable. While everyone else is having a good time, Neil is not.

The news that Alice’s mother is in the hospital is delivered to her over the phone. The whole family immediately starts getting ready to go home. Alice receives a second call while driving to the airport. Her mother is no longer with her. Despite Alice’s hysteria, Neil remains composed. Neil claims he left his passport in the hotel when he arrived at the airport. The entire family feels his absence from the trip.

The passport was a lie, and Neil was caught out. However, he has decided to remain in Acapulco for the time being. Jorge Campos, a taxi driver who takes him to a tiny hotel, becomes a buddy of his. Their meat processing business has made the Bennett family very wealthy. Upon returning to Acapulco, Alice confronts Neil over his abandonment of her during a difficult period. After discussing the family business, Neil signs a document in the presence of the family lawyer, Richard, to give up his assets and inheritance. Alice is shot and killed by criminals in a car driven by Jorge as she makes her way to the airport. The police suspect Neil of ordering the assassination and detain him. Neil breaks into grief and sobs uncontrollably on hearing about his sister’s death. Reps for the business arrive and announce their ownership of the organization.

What A Twist!

Following Richard’s release from prison, Neil heads back to his hotel room. He sees Berenice frequently and spends time at the beach with her. In his room, Alexa, Colin, and Richard confront him. Alexa slams a glass bottle into Neil’s head. Later, Neil gives Colin and Alexa the rights to the family business. Neil will receive a monthly pension and a down payment of €100,000. Later, Neil returns to Berenice after the meeting.

Neil falls down a flight of stairs a few days later. In the hospital, Berenice discovers Neil has brain cancer. Neil abandons Berenice and traverses the streets of Mexico City alone at night after she falls asleep at his side. It cuts from his wailing face to a glimmering sunrise. And an empty chair with a beer nearby, where the clothes and shoes Neil had been wearing the night before were lying abandoned on his chair.
