The inaugural MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025, one of the largest international music awards in Japan, announced the best works and artists across 62 categories during the Premiere Ceremony on May 21 and the Grand Ceremony on May 22 at Rohm Theatre Kyoto.
Established this year by five major Japanese music industry organizations, the awards aim to promote Japanese and other Asian music globally, elevate Japanese music as a cultural pride, and encourage international artists to enter the Japanese market.
Among the standout winners was the two-member unit YOASOBI, whose third single, “Idol,” featured as the opening theme for the anime Oshi no Ko .
The song garnered multiple accolades, including Best Anime Song, Top Global Hit from Japan, and Best Music Video. Additionally, the unit’s composer Ayase received the Song of the Year for Creators powered by JASRAC award for crafting “Idol.”
YOASOBI’s official X (formerly Twitter) account expressed gratitude, stating, “Along with the work ‘Oshi no Ko,’ ‘Idol’ has shown YOASOBI many different views. And we are happy that the song is still receiving new wonderful awards like this. Thank you very much for your constant support.”

The MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025 not only celebrated the achievements of established artists but also highlighted emerging talents, fostering a diverse and vibrant music scene that resonates both domestically and internationally.
The official website for Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: TABOO NIGHT XXXX has unveiled a brand-new director’s cut trailer, offering fans an extended look into the film’s vibrant musical showcase.
Spanning five and a half minutes, the trailer is a carefully curated collection of scenes handpicked by director Akiko Seki. This exclusive clip provides a comprehensive spotlight on all 11 songs featured in the movie, including two encore performances, each delivered by the powerhouse idol group QUARTET NIGHT.
The setlist begins with “Jewelful XXXX,” a multi-part track performed by Reiji Kotobuki, Ranmaru Kurosaki, Ai Mikaze, and Camus. The performance is broken into segments titled “Seize me if you can,” “Force & Faith,” “Wandering in a maze,” and “Do you know who I’m,” each contributing to the dramatic and stylistic flair that fans have come to expect from the franchise.
Solo tracks such as Camus’s “Ice Pierrot,” Reiji’s “Zero,” Ranmaru’s “Black Panther,” and Ai’s intriguingly titled “Am I a fairy or…?” further showcase each character’s unique musical personality. Duets like “The RUN to the RAY” by Reiji and Ranmaru and “God Love Keihou Hatsurei” by Ai and Camus add depth and diversity to the lineup.
Closing out the musical journey are the group performances by QUARTET NIGHT, including “TABOO NIGHT XXXX,” “JINN-Ω-RAY,” “Heαrt Knight,” and the iconic “God’s S.T.A.R.” Each song not only reflects the members’ musical evolution but also highlights their chemistry and stage charisma.
Uta no Prince-sama – TABOO NIGHT XXXX
QUARTET NIGHT has been a central part of the Uta no Prince-sama universe since their introduction in the anime’s second season, Maji Love 2000%, which aired in 2013. They serve as the senior idol group to the main unit ST☆RISH, bringing a more mature and refined energy to the series’ musical ensemble.
This film represents the third major concert production in the franchise’s cinematic history, following Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: Maji LOVE Kingdom in 2019 and Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: Maji LOVE ST☆RISH TOUR in 2022.
TABOO NIGHT XXXX opened in 135 theaters across Japan on May 9, 2025, making a strong debut by ranking fourth at the box office during its opening weekend. It maintained its momentum into the second weekend, where it ranked sixth.
